If you have visited my site before you know that I have mentioned Sting Free and Bengt Wiberg before. Apparently, Bengt appreciated what I wrote because I was one of the first to receive his latest press release about the patent approval for Sting Free technology.
If you are interested in my previous post about this product you, can click the link and read the article on Sting Free snus.
This has been in the making for a long time and Bengt has worked countless hours to bring it to where it is now. The buzz started many years ago and many have doubted that it ever would be released to the market. I can only congratulate Bengt for his engagement and diligent work to get the patents approved. The Corona pandemic has not made it any easier as Bengt has kept himself isolated in the countryside. I know many are waiting for this product, so here follows what he writes in his press release.
The patent application
In the press release Sting Free AB proudly announces that the patent application has been approved by the American patent office USPAT.
The European patent organization EPO has issued a declaration to approve the patent for the European market including 39 countries.
Sting Free AB already holds the patent for the Swedish market.

The market for Sting Free
It is estimated that smoke-free tobacco products is estimated to generate 15.6 billion dollars on the
global market in 2020 and is expected to increase to 22.2 billion dollars in 2025. This even though
the stinging sensation is a deterrent to use nicotine and snus pouches.
“We expect an almost exponential market growth for portion packaged nicotine products, especially in foreign markets, when more manufacturers and brands start using the Sting Free technology.”
Says Bengt Wiberg, CEO of Sting Free AB.
The patent describes a new and improved portion bag where one side has a thin membrane impenetrable by liquids. It can be used with Swedish snus, tobacco-free all-white products, chewing tobacco, CBD (cannabidiol) and others.
This makes it possible for the manufacturer to make nicotine products in packaged portions with completely different qualities than what is available on the market today. The most important difference to regular pouches it the impenetrable side that protect your gums from the stinging sensation.
The technique also allow the producer to enhance the taste experience, the strength, the pH-level, and the rate of nicotine release.
The Sting Free technique has been used in a prototype production series with industrial snus packaging machines without any changes to the machines.
The vision of Sting Free
The vision is to launch “The Swedish Experience“ to the world with the help of a number of packaged nicotine products. “The Swedish Experience” refers to the fact that in the group of Swedish men you find by far the lowest number of smokers in the world and also the lowest tobacco-related deaths in the EU.
At the same time the Swedes consume on average the same amount of tobacco as the rest of the population in the European Union countries. This is because 24% of the men and 7% of the women use snus products regularly.
The future for Sting Free AB
The approved patent makes it possible to start to negotiate license agreements in Europe and North America with producers and distributors before long. Sting Free AB has signed letters of intent with both Swedish and foreign producers of snus and tobacco-free all-white products in August of 2020.
At the present Sting Free AB has a non-exclusive license agreement with Swedish Match, the largest snus producer in the world. Swedish Match is the producer of the successful Zyn range of tobacco-free products.
Sting Free looking for investors
The company welcomes external investors interested in bringing Sting Free products to the market. The market for packaged nicotine products is potentially enormous.
