I read an article published by the Swedish Radio on 3 September. It is relating to snus and the hurricane Dorian. The article is about a swede living in Florida and what he had to say about the current hurricane Dorian. He’s fear of the hurricane Dorian and the risk of sitting at home without snus. So he stockpiled on snus. You can read my translation of the article and the interview below.
You can read the original article and listen to the interview here (in Swedish).
The article
The hurricane Dorian has caused great damage to the Bahamas but is reducing it in strength across the country. At the same time, the Kronoberger Peter Sibner in Florida is preparing for the hurricane. On Monday we talked to him.
I have bought forty cans of snus so I can manage during the hurricane season, says Peter Sibner.
The interview (audio)
Peter Sibner:
Yes, it was much activity here last Wednesday when it became clear
that this was becoming a real monster of a hurricane. It was a
migration of people going to the grocery stores but they had no
water. And it was restrictions on how much water you could buy, and
the gas stations had no petrol and it was long queues to most gas
stations and it became a huge activity. I was at Home Depot trying to
buy batteries and flashlights, but they had nothing of that. They had
sold all generators and petrol cans if you wanted to have some extra
gasoline at home. Last Wednesday it was a massive prepping activity here.
The reporter:
What did you buy then?
Peter Sibner:
I bought water, canned food, and flashlights. Some good friends who have lived here for a few years are a bit
more experienced and less nervous say the worst is the heat. The power goes and you sit indoors with a
temperature of 95-104º F for several days. So, it’s not so fun. So I bought a couple of fans as well, which I
hope will last.
The reporter:
(A bit humorous) I know you have bought some snus?
Peter Sibner:
This is important, I have bought forty cans of snus so I will survive throughout the hurricane season.
This hurricane is worse than a rainy summer in Växjö.
